Steven Sing
Partner
Stevo Sing has 20 years experience working in accounts, business finance, construction and development finance and commercial and residential property finance. His knowledge and experience has spanned over a wide range of industries including, property, manufacturing, a vast array of service based businesses and agriculture.
Steven has a strong focus on improving efficiency within his clients’ businesses through easy to use processes utilising the latest everyday technology available. This includes up-to-date and efficient accounts management processes to be able to provide timely information in order to most effectively tap into his extensive experience as finance broker for business, commercial property and development clients. In 2011 this approach led Steven to form the Business Engineers Australia Group, incorporating the ability to provide technology, accounts and finance solutions for his clients.

Dr Luke Rankine
Partner
Dr Luke Rankine has a vast array of skills and expertise in both engineering and business. Luke attained a degree in Aerospace Avionics Engineering from the Queensland University of Technology graduating with first class honours in 2002.
He was then offered a number of scholarships, including the prestigious Australia Postgraduate Award scholarship, to undertake a PhD in the field of functional analysis and signal processing. After completing his PhD in 2006, Luke took up a postdoctoral position at the Perinatal Research Centre at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital. His successful 3 year tenure there included 25 international publications and the patenting of an EEG Seizure detection algorithm for newborn babies.
The skill set Luke had developed through his study and research were then adapted to the business environment through his common sense systematic approach to the understanding of problems, identifying the correct functions and tools to address these problems and solving these problems in an orderly and efficient manner.
In 2008 Luke was engaged as a consultant for a property and retail business conglomerate and was charged with the task of setting up and managing a wide range of businesses and the construction and sale of a large variety of properties. This included the set-up and management of supermarkets, service stations, bottle shops, hotels and earthmoving equipment and the construction and sale of hotels, shopping centres, houses and units.
In 2011, Luke joined the Business Engineers Australia Group to extend his overall offering, now having access to specialist finance and accounts services as well as providing general Business Engineering for his clients.

Arlina Masangkay
Accounts Manager
Arlina is a detail-oriented and dedicated accountant with a strong background in bookkeeping, payroll, tax compliance, and financial reporting. With a Bachelors in Accounting, she brings a solid foundation in financial management to the Business Engineers team.
Arlina has worked across various industries, handling everything from accounts payable and payroll processing to tax filings and financial reconciliations. Her expertise in accounting software and data entry ensures that our clients’ financial records are accurate, compliant, and efficiently managed.
Known for her meticulous attention to detail and problem-solving skills, Arlina thrives on helping our clients streamline their financial processes and stay on top of their obligations. She is committed to providing accurate financial insights that empower clients to make informed business decisions.
Outside of work, Arlina enjoys coffee dates, spontaneous karaoke nights, and playing badminton with friends.

With a sharp mind for process and a heart for people, Hazel brings seven years of experience in the Australian mortgage industry to the Business Engineers team. Her expertise spans loan processing, credit policy assessment, broker support, and complex loan structure management — all delivered with precision, empathy, and an unwavering commitment to making things simpler and smoother for clients and colleagues alike.

Jemel has been working in the finance and accounting industry over a decade, bringing extensive experience across the manufacturing, and construction sectors. As a Xero Advisor, she helps streamline clients’ financial processes and gain clarity in their financial reporting.
Passionate about problem-solving, Jemel thrives on helping clients understand complex financial concepts, making them more accessible and actionable. She specialises in tracking payments to suppliers, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in financial transactions. Her keen attention to detail and deep understanding of financial principles allow her to provide valuable insights that support business growth.

Beyond her accounting career, Jewelle leads her family’s long-established bicycle business, trusted by the community for more than 30 years. Her dedication to business and customer service extends beyond the office, reflecting her entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to excellence.
Justine Baluyot

With a solid background in bookkeeping and financial reporting, Justine brings half a decade of hands-on experience in the accounting and bookkeeping field.
Justine has worked across a range of industries including healthcare, NDIS, manufacturing, building and construction, and has developed strong expertise in daily accounting functions such as bank reconciliations, invoicing, managing accounts payable and receivable, and preparing financial reports.
Justine is inspired by the knowledge that her work plays a vital role in a business’s financial health and success. With over 15 years of experience in the accounting world, Liliana brings a wealth of expertise across diverse industries — including Trademark & Patents, NDIS consultancy, Construction, Retail, and professional services. Liliana has built a strong foundation in financial accounting, reporting, and systems implementation, and takes pride in delivering results that make a real impact.
Liliana is an asset to our Business Engineers team with her analytical mindset and attention to detail matched by her ability to streamline processes and lead with calm confidence.
Originally from Colombia, Liliana moved to Australia 16 years ago and now calls the Gold Coast home. A devoted cat lover, she values both professional excellence and personal connection — believing that while accounting is about numbers, it’s also about people, purpose, and progress.

With more than 40 years of experience in banking and finance, Melanie brings a wealth of knowledge and a down-to-earth approach to helping clients achieve their financial goals. Starting her career in banking at just 15 years old, she’s seen first hand how varied lenders can be — and how much value a good broker can add by finding the right fit for every client.
Professionally, she’s passionate about helping people get into their dream homes and ensuring they’re seen as individuals, not just numbers. Personally, she has a big heart for supporting others who may be going through tough times.
Known for making complex processes simple, Mel is the go-to person for guiding clients through document and information requirements in the easiest way possible.
Outside of work, she loves art, music, and cooking — and says the most inspiring part of her job (aside from bringing her cute chihuahua to work every day!) is helping clients realise their financial dreams..
Natasha Wyatt
Senior Accounts Manager
Natasha is a qualified Bookkeeper/Accounting Technician and Registered BAS Agent with over 18 years’ experience in multiple facets of small to medium-sized business accounting, payroll, administration and human resources related functions.
Natasha is passionate about supporting her clients to grow their businesses by helping them understand and gain insight from their financial data and by taking the stress out of managing financial and compliance obligations. She takes a modern approach to maximising her clients workflow efficiency by using the latest industry knowledge and technology available.
Natasha started her bookkeeping career in her early twenties and after taking a break from the workforce to start a family, she embarked on further studies in Accounting and obtained her BAS Agent Registration.
Personally, Natasha loves being active and outdoors and particularly enjoys cycling, walking, kayaking and leisure horse-riding whenever possible.

Oliver Popovic
Credit Analyst
With a degree in actuarial science and a keen analytical mind, Oliver brings a fresh and insightful perspective to the Business Engineers team. A Bond University graduate, Oliver has a natural talent for breaking down complex data and communicating insights in a clear, relatable way.
His past experience spans client-facing roles in hospitality and property management, where he honed his problem-solving and communication skills. Oliver has also contributed to detailed economic research projects, including analysis of international market shocks and housing policy recommendations, reflecting his passion for finance, economics, and making data-driven decisions.
Fluent in both English and Serbian, Oliver is known for his calm approach, thorough research, and eagerness to continuously learn and grow. Outside of work, he’s an avid reader, seasoned traveller, and enjoys soccer, tennis, and martial arts.

Pieter Van Baren
Commercial Credit Analyst
Pieter brings vast knowledge and experience in the areas of bank lending, financial analysis, compliance/quality assurance, digital technology, and business improvement. He has gained extensive skills in Banking – working at the Branch level, Private Banking, Business Banking, Compliance and as a Mortgage Credit Analyst.
He aims to make the process of applying for finance as easy as possible for clients and seeks to add value to people’s lives and businesses by helping them get the finance they need.
Growing up in Perth, Pieter completed a commerce degree alongside starting his career in banking. After his first role as a bank teller in 2004, he quickly shifted into a sales consultant role opening bank accounts for customers, and progressively moved onto arranging personal loans, supplementary home loans and eventually mortgage refinances. He then moved into private banking processing documentation and organising settlements for both residential and commercial loans. Eventually after 8 years of service Pieter left the bank to work for a boutique finance broker in Melbourne.
Pieter’s strong attention to detail allowed him to move into the Compliance side of banking as a Quality Assurance Manager (a role he continued when he lived overseas) where he enjoyed assisting colleagues to follow procedures correctly whilst also helping them serve their customers as efficiently as possible. Pieter returned to Australia from the UK in 2022, settling on the Gold Coast and joining Business Engineers.
Pieter is most passionate about doing things accurately and efficiently. He follows the latest trends in the fintech industry and enjoys discovering tools to make managing finances easier and sharing this information with others.
In his spare time, Pieter enjoys traveling and seeing new places, watching AFL (long-suffering Fremantle supporter), going to the beach, and spending time with his family.

Sara Carrigan OAM
Senior Manager
Sara Carrigan OAM has represented Australia at the highest level in the sport of cycling winning an Olympic Gold medal and has received one of our country’s greatest honour, the Order of Australia Medal (OAM). After announcing retirement from professional sport in December 2008 following the Beijing Olympic Games, Sara founded her own business ‘Sara Carrigan Cycling’ providing rudimentary cycling skill courses and safety sessions for all levels of ability.
As an accredited Level 2 Cycling Australia coach, Sara also coached and mentored a range of athletes from junior talent right up to the elite level with both Triathlon Australia and Cycling Australia at World Championships.
As a magazine columnist, Executive Board Member of the QLD Olympic Council, member of both the ‘Athletes Advisory Committee’ and the ‘Sport and Technical Committee’ of the 2018 Commonwealth Games, Sara brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the Business Engineers team.
Sara has developed her skill set through her study and experiences as an Olympian, Business Owner, Entrepreneur, Property Investor & Coach. The success principles in business, life and sport are exactly the same and it’s Sara’s passion to share and implement her strategies, tools and systems to success and help her team and clients achieve their dreams and goals.
